Xiaodong Chen is a Distinguished University Professor at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, where he holds a professorship in Materials Science and Engineering and courtesy appointments in both Chemistry and Medicine. He is the Director of Innovative Centre for Flexible Devices (iFLEX) at NTU, the co-director of Max Planck – NTU Joint Lab for Artificial Senses, Deputy Director of the Institute for Digital Molecular Analytics and Science (IDMxS), Deputy Director of the Singapore Hybrid-Integrated Next-Generation μ-Electronics Center (SHINE). His research interests encompass mechanomaterials science and engineering, flexible electronics, sense digitalization, cyber-human interfaces and systems, and carbon-negative technology. He received his B.S. degree (Honors) in chemistry from Fuzhou University (China) in 1999, M.S. degree (Honors) in physical chemistry from the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2002, and Ph.D. degree (Summa Cum Laude) in biochemistry from University of Muenster (Germany) in 2006. After his postdoctoral fellow working at Northwestern University (USA), he started his independent research career as Nanyang Assistant Professor at Nanyang Technological University since 2009. He was promoted to Professor in 2016. He has been elected as a Fellow of the Academy of Engineering Singapore and a Fellow of Royal Society of Chemistry in UK. In addition, he was recognized by multiple prestigious awards and honors including Singapore President’s Science Award, Singapore NRF Investigatorship, and more. He currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of ACS Nano.

Xing Yi Ling is a President’s Chair in Chemistry from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. She received her Ph.D. degree in Chemistry from University of Twente, the Netherlands in 2009, and her postdoctoral research at the University of California, Berkeley between 2009-2011. She joined Chemistry and Biological Chemistry division at Nanyang Technological University in 2011, where she was promoted to professor in 2021. Her research focuses in using nanotechnology for fundamental studies and applications in environmental and healthcare fields. Specifically, she is interested in self-assembling shape-controlled noble metal nanoparticles into superlattices to impart new structure-to-function properties and applications in surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS). Since January 2024, Xing Yi serves as the Editor-in-Chief the ACSApplied Materials portfolio, a family of eight journals focused on materials, interfacial processes, and their applications.

Kanyi Pu is a President’s Chair Professor in Biomedical Engineering at the School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (CCEB) and the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine at Nanyang Technological University. He is a fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE), and a Singapore National Research Foundation (NRF) Investigator. His pioneering work on molecular afterglow imaging overcame long-standing optical background interference, enabling background-free in vivo optical imaging and in vitro diagnostics with sensitivities over 1,000-fold higher than conventional fluorescence. He also established molecular designs for highly renal-clearable fluorophores and converted optical probes into artificial urinary biomarkers, creating a new paradigm for optical urine testing. His innovations on accelerating earlier, noninvasive, and more accessible diagnostics reflect his dedication to advancing the frontiers of healthcare science through a multidisciplinary, chemistry-centered approach. He is a Highly Cited Researcher by Web of Science in biology and biochemistry, chemistry, and materials science, among only 31 scientists globally recognized across three or more fields. He serves as Executive Editor of the Journal of the American Chemical Society (JACS) and also serves on the editorial advisory boards of more than 18 leading journals, including Chemical Society Reviews, Advanced Materials, Advanced Functional Materials, Biomaterials, Small, and Bioconjugate Chemistry.
