Maria Laura Bolognesi, Ph.D.
Associate Editor, Journal of Medicinal Chemistry
Professor of Medicinal Chemistry, Director of the Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technologies degree program and Rector Delegate for Latin American International Relations at the Alma Mater Studiorum - University of Bologna
Maria Laura Bolognesi received her PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences under the direction of Professor Carlo Melchiorre in 1996 and carried out postdoctoral work at the University of Minnesota with Professor Philip S. Portoghese. Her research explores the development of small molecules in the neurodegenerative and neglected tropical disease therapeutic areas. Maria Laura was awarded the positions of Distinguished Visiting Professor at the Complutense University of Madrid in 2009, Pesquisador Visitante Especial at the University of Brasilia in 2014 and Professeur Invité at Université Caen Normandie in 2018. She is an Associate Editor of Journal of Medicinal Chemistry and is on the Editorial Advisory Board of ChemMedChem. She also serves in the Advisory Board of the European Federation of Medicinal Chemistry.
Paolo Fornasiero

Full Professor of Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Trieste
Paolo Fornasiero is Full Professor of Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Trieste. His scientific interests are in the field of inorganic chemistry, with attention to the design and development of multi-functional nano-systems and their advanced applications in energy related processes and environmental heterogeneous catalysis. Paolo Fornasiero has published more than 300 research articles, 19 book chapters, and holds 4 patents. Since 2022 he is member of the Academia Europaea and from 2021 he is member of the European Academy of Sciences. He received various awards including the 2005 Nasini Medal, the 2013 Chiusoli Medal and the Malatesta award from the Italian Chemical Society, the 2016 Heinz Heinemann Award from the International Association of Catalysis Societies. Since 2015 he serves as Associate Editor of ACS Catalysis and since 2021 as Executive Editor of ACS Catalysis.
Massimo Morbidelli
Executive Editor, Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research
Politecnico di Milano
Massimo Morbidelli received his Laurea in Chemical Engineering at the Politecnico di Milano and PhD at the University of Notre Dame. He is currently Professor at the Politecnico di Milano (Italy) and Professor Emeritus at the ETH Zurich (Switzerland). His main research interest is in the area of biopharmaceutics and specifically on the integrated continuous manufacturing of therapeutic proteins, and its automation and digitalization. Massimo Morbidelli is co-author of more than 750 papers, 23 international patents and six books, including the very recent ones on Continuous Biopharmaceutical Processes (2018), Cambridge University Press, coauthored with D Pfister and L Nicoud and Perfusion Cell Culture Processes for Biopharmaceuticals (2020), Cambridge University Press, coauthored with M Wolf and J-M Bielser. He is the first chemical engineer elected to the Italian Academy of Science (Accademia dei Lincei), serves as the Executive Editor of the ACS journal of Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research.
