As part of our Latin America Roadshow, ACS on Campus is hosting two events in Mexico! Join us at Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León or Universidad Autónoma de Coahuila to meet ACS Editors, learn their top tips for getting published, and curated ACS resources to help you get ahead. WIth a special focus on researchers in green chemistry and sustainability, both events are curated for emerging leaders in science.
Both events are FREE and open to all students and researchers studying the sciences, not just chemistry! All attendees will receive a personalized participation certificate after the event.

Michael KC Tam
Deputy Editor, ACS Sustainable Resource Management
Professor and University Research Chair Department of Chemical Engineering
Michael Tam obtained his B.Eng. and Ph.D. degrees in Chemical Engineering from Monash University, Australia in 1982 and 1991, respectively. He spent 18 months on a postdoctoral fellowship at the Department of Chemical Engineering, McMaster University Canada, and subsequently taught at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore for 15 years. In June 2007, he joined the Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Waterloo as a tenured full professor, and holds the position of University Research Chair in the field of functional colloids and sustainable nanomaterials. He is an active member of the Waterloo Institute for Nanotechnology, Waterloo Institute, and the Institute for Polymer Research. Tam served as an Associate Editor of ACS Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering from 2015-2023. He is on the Editorial Advisory Board of Chemical Society Reviews and a panel member of The Research Foundation – Flanders (FWO – a Belgian public research council, based in Brussels) since 2022. He has authored or co-authored over 400 peer-reviewed articles on fundamental and applied research in chemical engineering and nanotechnology, and his works have been cited over 25,000 times. He is also a co-inventor of 10 patents or disclosures.
Grissel Trujillo de Santiago, Ph.D.
Associate Editor, ACS Materials Letters
Assistant Professor, School of Engineering and Sciences at Tecnológico de Monterrey
Grissel Trujillo de Santiago is a Professor at the School of Engineering and Sciences at Tecnológico de Monterrey. She is CSO and the scientific founder of FORMA Foods. She was trained as a Chemistry & Pharmacy Biologist at Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (summa cum laude); she obtained her MSc degree in Biotechnology (summa cum laude), and her Ph.D. degree in Biotechnology from Tecnológico de Monterrey. Dr. Trujillo de Santiago conducted research in Material Sciences at the Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II (Naples, Italy) during her Ph.D. program. She was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Dr. Khademhosseini’s Lab in the Harvard-MIT Health Sciences and Technology Division (2014-2016) and the Microsystems Technology Laboratories at MIT. Dr. Trujillo is a member of the National System of Researchers in Mexico (level 2). She has published more than 70 papers, has been granted a Mexican patent, and has 6 more patent-pending technologies, including 3D chaotic printing. Her work has been cited more than 4700 times, and she has an H-index of 25. She has been recipient of several awards, including the “Professional Development” award by the ISBF, the For Women in Science Fellowship from the L’Oréal-UNESCO-AMC-CONACyT foundation, “Distinguished Citizen” by her hometown, Matamoros Coahuila, the Romulo Garza award for research that leads to entrepreneurship and is member of the “Distinguished Circle of Faculty Members” of her institution. Trujillo is an Associate Editor at ACS Materials Letters and a member of the Scientific Advisory Committee for the United Nations University (Latin America and the Caribbean program). Her main area of interest and expertise is bioprinting, biofabrication, and materials engineering for Tissue Engineering applications. Dr. Trujillo de Santiago research is currently focused on the development of novel platform technologies based on chaos to produce multilayered complex 3D micro-structured living tissues.
Christina I. McCoy, Ph.D.
Portfolio Manager, Global Engagement
Christina I. McCoy is the Portfolio Manager for Global Engagement at ACS. She oversees the global professional and student chapter program and works to internationalize our programs, products and services. She comes to ACS with more than a decade in international education and global relations. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin.
Becky Monfort
Senior Marketing Manager, ACS on Campus, ACS Publications
Becky Monfort is the Program Manager for ACS on Campus, the American Chemical Society’s flagship outreach program. She oversees events and programs at institutions around the world, bringing leaders in chemistry, publishing, research, science communication, and career development to thousands of students and early career researchers. Prior to joining the ACS on Campus team, Becky managed the ACS international student chapter program, coordinated ACS outreach efforts to international students and faculty in the chemical sciences, and facilitated student programming at ACS and other scientific meetings. Becky joined ACS in July 2017 from Organic Letters, an ACS Publication, at the University of Pennsylvania, and she has worked in global program strategy and development. Becky holds a BA in French and Comparative Literature from Bryn Mawr College.
Regiane A. Bracchi
Manager – Latin America, ACS Publications
With a master’s degree in information science and extensive experience as a teaching professor focusing on the production, dissemination, use and application of scientific and technological information, Regiane A. Bracchi’s main role as the ACS Publications Latin America Manager is to support the scientific community in the region. This work centers on the development and implementation projects and partnerships associated to the access, use, and application of all ACS resources and solutions, as well as the promotion of opportunities and programs for the benefit of science in Latin America.
Alfonso Gonzalez, Ph.D.
Regional Sales Manager for LATAM, CAS
Alfonso has been with CAS (Chemical Abstracts Service) since August 2016. His initial role was as a Sales Manager for Mexico and he is now the regional sales manager for LATAM. Before joining CAS, Alfonso worked for two years as Technology Director for Tekniset de Mexico, a compounder of specialty polymeric materials. He also worked four years as Market Developing Manager and Managing Director of Macro-M, a startup company of KUO group in nanomaterials and nanotechnology and other four years as Managing Director of CID (R&D Center of KUO Group in Mexico). Alfonso holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico.
