Featured Speakers
Prof. Jingguang Chen
Associate Editor, ACS Catalysis
Professor of Chemical Engineering, Columbia University
Jingguang Chen has made pioneering contributions to the understanding and use of novel catalytic materials for catalysis and electrocatalysis. Chen investigates the physical and chemical properties of bimetallic and metal carbide catalysts. In particular, bimetallic catalysts (the combined atoms of two metals) possess unique physical, chemical, and electric properties. His research has inspired fundamental studies in catalytic and fuel cell processes, including the exploration of ways to reduce the use of platinum, a rare and expensive metal, in the catalysis process to produce hydrogen. Chen joined Columbia Engineering in 2012 from the University of Delaware, where he was the Claire D. LeClaire Professor of Chemical Engineering and the co-director of the Department of Energy’s Energy Frontier Research Center. He co-founded, and is the principal investigator of, the Synchrotron Catalysis Consortium at the National Synchrotron Light Source, Brookhaven National Laboratory. In addition to serving on a wide range of professional committees, he is the president of the North American Catalysis Society and served as the chair of the Catalysis Division of American Chemical Society. He earned his BS in chemistry from Nanjing University, China, in 1982, and his PhD from the University of Pittsburgh in 1988.
Bin Liu, Ph.D.
Deputy Editor, ACS Materials Letters
Fellow of Singapore Academy of Engineering, Asia-Pacific Academy of Materials, the Royal Society of Chemistry
Bin Liu received a BS degree from Nanjing University and a Ph.D. degree from the National University of Singapore (NUS) before her postdoctoral training at the University of California, Santa Barbara. She joined the Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Department of NUS in late 2005. She was promoted to Associate Professor in 2010 and was named as Chair Professor in 2014. Her current research focuses on organic nanomaterials for biomedical and energy applications. Dr. Liu has received many highly prestigious awards, including Singapore President’s Young Scientist Award 2008, L’Oréal Women in Science National Fellowship 2011, Asia Rising Star 2013, BASF Materials Award 2014, Materials in Society Lectureship 2015, Singapore President’s Technology Award 2016, and Asian Scientist Top 100 List in 2017. Dr. Liu was named as The World’s Most Influential Minds and the Top 1% Highly Cited Researchers in Materials Science by Thomson Reuters and Clarivate Analytics during 2014-2018. Dr. Liu is the Fellow of Singapore Academy of Engineering, Asia-Pacific Academy of Materials, the Royal Society of Chemistry and serves as the Deputy Editor for ACS Materials Letters.
Jingjing (Grace) Lv
Editorial Services Manager, ACS Publications
Grace joined ACS Publications in 2018 and is currently the primary Point of Contact for Editorial Services in China, which is responsible for leading and developing author, reviewer and researcher services program, supporting the strategic outreach initiatives in China, and engaging with the local scientific community.
Dr. Cyrene Qian
Senior Customer Success Specialist, CAS
Dr. Cyrene Qian joined CAS in November 2015. She is responsible for the training, promotion and designing the case study for CAS solutions, such as SciFinder, PatentPak, etc. Dr. Qian is an expert in retrieving scientific information of chemistry, chemical engineering, energy, pharmacy, biology, material science via SciFinder and other CAS solutions; and she is also familiar with different types of chemical information searching tools. Before joining CAS, Dr. Qian worked as Associated Professor at the National Center for NANO Science and Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Before that she did her post-doc research in the Dept. of Materials, University of Oxford since October 2013. She received her PhD degree in organic chemistry in Ecole Polytechnique, France; she got her master’s degree in chemistry in Memorial University, Canada and she got her Bachelor’s Degree of Materials Chemistry and Bachelor’s Degree of Business in Nankai University.
