Mary K. Carroll, Ph.D.
ACS Immediate Past-President
Dwane W. Crichton Professor of Chemistry at Union College
Mary K. Carroll is the Dwane W. Crichton Professor of Chemistry at Union College (Schenectady, New York). She earned a B.S. in chemistry from Union College, a Ph.D. in analytical chemistry from Indiana University, Bloomington, and performed postdoctoral research at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She co-directs the Union College Aerogel Lab, and co-founded SunThru LLC to commercialize aerogel technology developed at Union. She has been a member of the American Chemical Society since 1986.

Gianluca Maria Farinola, Ph.D.
President, Italian Chemical Society (SCI)
Full Professor of Organic Chemistry at the Università degli Studi di Bari Aldo Moro in Bari, Italy
Gianluca M. Farinola completed his Ph.D. in 1996, has been a Full Professor of Organic Chemistry at the University of Bari Aldo Moro since 2015, following his roles as Assistant and Associate Professor. He has conducted research at prestigious institutions in Germany and France and was appointed Adjunct Professor at Tufts University in 2019. Farinola has held significant positions, including President of the Organic Chemistry Division of the Italian Chemical Society and the Division of Organic Chemistry of EuChemS. He has received numerous awards, such as the Ciamician Medal and the Innovation in Organic Synthesis Award, and his research focuses on sustainable synthesis of multifunctional organic materials for applications in photonics, electronics, and biomedicine.

Filippo De Angelis, Ph.D.
Executive Editor, ACS Energy Letters
Professor, Department of Chemistry, Biology and Biotechnology, University of Perugia
Filippo De Angelis’ research expertise is in the development and application of first principles computational methods to the simulation of the structural, electronic and optical properties of metallorganic, inorganic and hybrid materials and molecules and of the related interfaces. His research interests span from the simulation of chemical reactivity in catalysis and biological systems, to the study of excited states in semiconductor nanostructures and optoelectronic devices. His recent work has focused on solar energy materials, with emphasis on dye-sensitized, bulk heterojunction and hybrid perovskite solar cells.

Maria Laura Bolognesi, Ph.D.

Professor of Medicinal Chemistry, Director of the Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technologies degree program and Rector Delegate for Latin American International Relations at the Alma Mater Studiorum - University of Bologna
Maria Laura Bolognesi received her PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences under the direction of Professor Carlo Melchiorre in 1996 and carried out postdoctoral work at the University of Minnesota with Professor Philip S. Portoghese. Her research explores the development of small molecules in the neurodegenerative and neglected tropical disease therapeutic areas. Maria Laura was awarded the positions of Distinguished Visiting Professor at the Complutense University of Madrid in 2009, Pesquisador Visitante Especial at the University of Brasilia in 2014 and Professeur Invité at Université Caen Normandie in 2018. She is an Associate Editor of Journal of Medicinal Chemistry and is on the Editorial Advisory Board of ChemMedChem. She also serves in the Advisory Board of the European Federation of Medicinal Chemistry.

Marta Plebani
Regional Sales Manager, ACS Publications
Marta is responsible, as Sales Manager within ACS Publications, of the Southern Europe and Africa academic, government and STEM corporate markets. With extensive experience in the publishing industry, she is dedicated to fostering strong relationships with researchers and institutions. Her commitment to promoting research and open access drives her efforts to provide innovative solutions that support the scientific community. Marta is passionate about enhancing accessibility to high-quality research and remains a key advocate for collaboration and knowledge sharing.

Monica Azulay, MA
EMEA Account Manager, CAS
Monica joined the ACSI sales team based in Oxford in July 2014. Alongside her Regional Sales Manager reponsibilities in the EMEA region, Monica represents the ACS internationally, fostering the relationship between the ACS and their end-users, authors, customers and stakeholders. She is strongly committed to bringing the ACS closer to the scientific community outside the USA and she fully engages at every opportunity in outreach events such as ACS on Campus.

Sonja Krane, Ph.D.
Senior Associate Publisher, American Chemical Society, Publications Division
Sonja Krane, Ph.D., is Senior Associate Publisher at the American Chemical Society. Following undergraduate and graduate studies in chemistry, as well as work experience as a medicinal chemist, Sonja joined the ACS Publications Division as Managing Editor of the Journal of the American Chemical Society. She currently manages a portfolio of thirteen journals and, in this role, she supports the strategic development of these titles and the implementation of editorial initiatives that enable the journals to excel in their fields. She has led efforts to launch new titles, including expansion of the ACS’s Environmental Science & Technology portfolio. Sonja contributed to the overhaul of the journal licensing options in support of ACS Publications’ Open Science program, and she led the successful development and launch of several Artificial Intelligence-Assisted tools across the journal portfolio.

Christina I. McCoy, Ph.D.
Portfolio Manager, Global Engagement
Christina I. McCoy is the Portfolio Manager for Global Engagement at ACS. She oversees the global professional and student chapter program and works to internationalize our programs, products and services. She comes to ACS with more than a decade in international education and global relations. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin.

Becky Monfort
Senior Marketing Manager, ACS on Campus, ACS Publications
Becky Monfort is the Program Manager for ACS on Campus, the American Chemical Society’s flagship outreach program. She oversees events and programs at institutions around the world, bringing leaders in chemistry, publishing, research, science communication, and career development to thousands of students and early career researchers. Prior to joining the ACS on Campus team, Becky managed the ACS international student chapter program, coordinated ACS outreach efforts to international students and faculty in the chemical sciences, and facilitated student programming at ACS and other scientific meetings. Becky joined ACS in July 2017 from Organic Letters, an ACS Publication, at the University of Pennsylvania, and she has worked in global program strategy and development. Becky holds a BA in French and Comparative Literature from Bryn Mawr College.
