Karla Oyuky Juarez Moreno, PhD
Associate Editor, Chemical Research in Toxicology
Professor and Research Leader, Centro de Física Aplicada y Tecnología Avanzada (CFATA-UNAM)
Karla Juarez-Moreno received her PhD in Biotechnology from CICESE, after completing a degree in Biology at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). During her doctoral studies, she was granted a DAAD scholarship to conduct research at the Institute of Immunology in Hamburg, Germany. She later carried out postdoctoral research at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, funded by a Fulbright García-Robles Scholarship, and completed a second postdoctoral fellowship at the Center for Nanosciences and Nanotechnology (CNyN, UNAM). She is currently an Associate Researcher at the Center for Applied Physics and Advanced Technology (CFATA, UNAM) in Juriquilla, Querétaro, Mexico. Her research focuses on Nanotoxicology, specifically investigating the cellular and molecular responses to nanomaterials and the effects of commercial and incidental nanoparticles on various cell models. Additionally, she is interested in the biomedical applications of engineered metallic and metal oxide nanoparticles. Dr. Juarez-Moreno is a Regular Member of the Mexican Academy of Sciences (AMC) and a Level 2 member of Mexico’s National System of Researchers (SNII). She has co-authored more than 65 scientific articles in her field.
