Coralia Osorio Roa, Ph.D.
Deputy Editor, ACS Food Science & Technology
Professor, Departamento de Química, Universidad Nacional de Colombia
Dr. Osorio is Chemist of Universidad Nacional de Colombia (1993), and obtained her M. Sc and Dr. Sc. in Chemistry at the same University in 1995 and 2001, respectively. She was research fellow in natural product chemistry at Tokyo Institute of Technology, Tokyo, Japan (1998) and visiting scientist in biochemistry lab at Universidad de La República, Montevideo, Uruguay (2000), during her doctorate. After her doctorate, she did a stay at Technical University of Braunschweig, Braunschweig, Germany (2002), and has been visiting researcher at Department of Food Science & Technology, Oregon State University, Corvallis, Oregon, USA (2005) and Technical University of Munich, Munich, Germany (2018). Dr. Osorio started her academic career at Department of Chemistry of Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Bogotá, Colombia as Associated Instructor (1997); continued as Assistant Professor (1998), Associated Professor (2006), and currently serves as Professor since 2014. She is Deputy Editor of ACS Food Science & Technology, and has been a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry since 2016.
Prof. Pauline Chiu
Associate Editor, Organic Letters
Professor, University of Hong Kong
Pauline Chiu enrolled in the BSc Honours program in Chemistry at the University of Toronto. She joined the laboratory of the late Prof. Adrian Brook to do a BSc final year thesis in 1987, and was the last graduate student of Professor Brook when she completed her Master’s thesis which was on the chemistry of silenes in 1990. She continued pursuing her PhD with NSERC (National Science & Engineering Research Council of Canada) support under the supervision of Prof. Mark Lautens at the University of Toronto in 1990-1994, working on the organometallic transformations of oxabicyclic compounds. Then under further NSERC support, she went on to do postdoctoral work with Prof. Samuel J. Danishefsky at Columbia University in 1994-1995, New York, working on the total synthesis of gelsemine. She started her independent career at the Department of Chemistry at the University of Hong Kong, and she has been Professor in organic chemistry since 2011. Her research interests are in cycloaddition and cascade reactions, and development of new methodology as applied to natural product total synthesis. She is also interested in developing copper-mediated chemical transformations and reactions to synthesize medium-sized rings. Prof. Chiu is currently an Associate Editor at the ACS journal Organic Letters.
