Featured Speakers
Prof. Sébastien Perrier
Deputy Editor, ACS Polymers Au
Professor of Polymer Chemistry, University of Warwick
Professor Perrier holds the Monash–Warwick Alliance Chair in Polymer Chemistry, a joint appointment between Warwick Chemistry and Warwick Medical School and the Faculty of Pharmacy at Monash University. His research applies macromolecular engineering to the design of functional nanostructured materials, with applications spanning materials science and nanomedicine. He joined the RSC Polymer Chemistry Editorial Board in 2012 and was appointed Associate Editor in July 2017. He is now Deputy Editor of ACS Polymers Au. He has also served on the Associate Editorial Boards of Macromolecules, Soft Matter, European Polymer Journal, ACS Macro Letters, ChemComm and Chemical Society Reviews.
Prof. David Haddleton
Professor in Polymer Chemistry, University of Warwick
Professor Haddleton is a polymer chemist with over 30 years of industrial and academic experience, more than 500 papers and over 20 patent families. His research centres on controlled polymerisation and catalysis. He founded Warwick Effect Polymers and Medherant, and received the 2004 Chemistry World Entrepreneur of the Year award. He was Editor-in-Chief of European Polymer Journal from 2002 to 2009. He then became founding Editor-in-Chief of the RSC’s Polymer Chemistry, serving until 2017. During his tenure the journal moved from monthly to weekly publication. He is currently Executive Editor-in-Chief of the Cambridge Materials journals at Cambridge University Press.
Dr. Graham Smeddle
Managing Editor, ACS Publications, Global Editorial Strategy
Dr. Smeddle is a Managing Editor with ACS Publications, where he oversees several leading polymer science journals, including Macromolecules, Biomacromolecules, ACS Polymers Au, and ACS Macro Letters. He holds a PhD in Computational Microbiology from the University of Southampton, where his research focused on computational studies of bacterial membrane interactions with antimicrobial peptides. Graham has over a decade of experience in scholarly publishing as a Staff Editor, managing peer review and journal development across chemistry and computer science titles. His particular interests include research integrity, open data sharing, peer review efficiency, and community engagement in society publishing.
Dr. Paul Goring
Managing Editor, ACS Publications, Global Editorial Strategy
Dr. Goring is a Managing Editor with ACS Publications, where he oversees JACS Au, ACS Central Science, Chemistry of Materials, and ACS Materials Letters. He holds a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Warwick, and his research focused on polyolefin-based block copolymers and their application as wax crystal modifying additives in petrochemicals. Paul has almost 8 years of experience in scholarly publishing at ACS Publications, having previously worked on ACS Omega as a Publishing Editor before moving into his current role. His professional interests include strategic journal development, open science advocacy, data management, and engaging with the research community.
Prof. Julie Macpherson
Professor of Chemistry, University of Warwick
Professor Macpherson leads research in electrochemistry, materials science and instrumental method development. She has particular expertise in carbon-based electrode materials for applications including environmental monitoring and energy storage. Her work was recognised with the 2025 ACS Advances in Measurement Science Lectureship Award. In publishing, she is Editor-in-Chief of the Royal Society of Chemistry’s Chemistry Student Guides, a series of undergraduate textbooks that place students at the centre of the writing process, and is a member of the Editorial Advisory Board for ACS Sensors, ACS Electrochemistry and ACS Measurement Science Au.
Dr. Rianne Lord
Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry, University of Warwick
Dr. Lord is an inorganic chemist and UKRI Future Leaders Fellow. She studied for her MChem and PhD at the University of Leeds, held posts at Edinburgh, Bradford, and the University of East Anglia, and joined Warwick in October 2024. Her fellowship investigates new vanadium compounds as potential cancer therapeutics. She serves as an Associate Editor for Organometallics and sits on the advisory board of the European Journal of Inorganic Chemistry. She also acts as a regular peer reviewer for journals from the RSC, Nature, ACS, Wiley, and Elsevier.
