Omar Azzaroni, Ph.D.
Associate Editor, ACS Applied Polymer Materials
Adjunct Professor of Physical Chemistry, Universidad Nacional de La Plata
Omar studied chemistry at the Universidad Nacional de La Plata (UNLP) (Argentina), receiving his Ph.D. in 2004. His postdoctoral studies were carried out at the University of Cambridge (UK) (2004–2006, Marie Curie Research Fellow) and the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research (Germany) (2007, Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellow). He was then appointed as Max Planck Partner Group leader from 2009 until 2013. He has served as Vice-Director of the Instituto de Investigaciones Fisicoquímicas Teóricas y Aplicadas (INIFTA) (2012–2015). He is currently a fellow member of CONICET and head of the Soft Matter Laboratory of INIFTA. Since 2009, he is also Adjunct Professor of Physical Chemistry at UNLP.

Rubén Morones-Ramírez, Ph.D.
Associate Editor and Topic Editor, ACS ES&T Water
Research Faculty of Chemical Sciences, Autonomous University of Nuevo Leon
José Rubén Morones-Ramírez received his Ph. D. from the University of Texas at Austin and did his postdoctoral research at Boston University and Harvard University for four years in the areas of new antimicrobial development. He is now a Professor of Chemical Sciences in the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León and is currently the Director of the Research Center on Biotechnology and Nanotechnology of the School of Chemical Sciences at the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León. His main line of research involves the use of nanobiotechnology towards the design and development of novel therapeutic agents against multidrug-resistant microbial pathogens.

Regiane A. Bracchi
Manager – Latin America, ACS Publications
With a master’s degree in information science and extensive experience as a teaching professor focusing on the production, dissemination, use and application of scientific and technological information, Regiane A. Bracchi’s main role as the ACS Publications Latin America Manager is to support the scientific community in the region. This work centers on the development and implementation projects and partnerships associated to the access, use, and application of all ACS resources and solutions, as well as the promotion of opportunities and programs for the benefit of science in Latin America.

Juliana Garcia, Ph.D.
Publishing, Scientific Information, and Outreach Specialist, ACS Publications
Juliana is the Publishing, Scientific Information, and Outreach Specialist for ACS Publications, a division of the American Chemical Society. She holds a degree in Chemical Engineering, and has obtained both her Master’s and Doctorate in Food Science and Technology from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. Juliana has served as a visiting scholar at the University of Messina in Italy, The Ohio State University in the USA, and the University of Seville in Spain. She has more than 10 publications in the area of sensory analysis and chemical study of food. Juliana has also been awarded the Fulbright scholarship and has participated in the ACS Summer School on Green Chemistry & Sustainable Energy 2023.

Betty C. Galarreta, Ph.D.

Full Professor of Chemistry, Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru (PUCP)
Betty C. Galarreta is a Full Professor of Chemistry and former Director of the Chemistry Undergraduate Program at Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru (PUCP). She received her Ph.D. from the University of Wester Ontario and did her postdoctoral research at Boston University Photonics Center. Her current research focuses on the development of optical methods based on vibrational spectroscopy, localized surface plasmon, and nanomaterials for the analysis of food products and cultural heritage materials. She is involved in various activities to promote chemistry education and interdisciplinary research in STEM. She is the Faculty Advisor of ACS PUCP Student Chapter and an active member of the ACS Division of Analytical Chemistry’s Education Committee.

Jishyra Serrano
Program Manager, International Student Chapters, ACS
Jishyra Serrano (She/Her) is the Program Manager for International Student Chapters at the American Chemical Society. Dr. Serrano holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Antillean Adventist University and a PhD in Translational Biomedical Science from the University of Rochester, where her research focused on the biological effects of stress during pregnancy and its relation to childhood temperament. After completing her degree, Serrano’s work has focused on managing communities within scientific organizations. She previously worked on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives within the American Association for the Advancement in Science, and currently manages the 138 International student chapters at ACS.

Carolina Belalcazar Perez
Customer Success Manager, Andean Region, LATAM, CAS

Greco González Miera, Ph.D.
Managing Editor, ACS Publications
Greco earned his Bachelor with Honors degree in Chemistry at the University of Zaragoza (Spain), and he studied Frustrated Lewis Pairs at the University of Münster (Germany). Greco received his Ph.D. from Stockholm University (Sweden) in mechanistic studies of homogeneous and heterogeneous catalytic systems. Later, he was a Japan Society for the Promotion of Science Postdoctoral Fellow at the Institute of Transformative bio-Molecules (ITbM) at Nagoya University (Japan), where his research focused on the synthesis of curved nanographenes. In Spring 2022, Greco joined the ACS Publications Division and is now the Managing Editor of the journals ACS Energy Letters, Energy & Fuels, Langmuir, and ACS Photonics, with responsibility over their strategic development and management.
